Recently many movies was made from an all times favorite classic childhood story.
It was an all time favorite so time to time people will surely make a remake of it.
But what i'm trying to say is.. This very recently.. Really really recently..
The movies in theater, one after another, like chasing each other tails, the theme is childhood classic fairy tales..
Not long time ago, it was Alice in Wonderland, followed by Red Riding Hood, Mirror Mirror, Snow White and the Huntsman..
Now is, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters , while Hansel and Gretel is still on, Jack: The Giant Slayer already make a move..
When Jack is still just having his moment, Oz: The Great and Powerful is trying to steal attention.
What happening in the movies, if you ask?
I am actually asking myself "What the heck all is these about?"
And i finally figured out, what happened, and i will do you a favor of answering it..
Be prepare.. Brace yourself.. The answer is... Tadaaaa... 3D..
Yep, 3D is really something that cause all of these..
But after watching so many these kind of movies.
I may said, that Oz: The Great and Powerful, is the one that captivated my heart the best.
Or it will be proper to say my eyes instead of my heart.
And the one that worth of reviewing a bit.
Not because the story-line, but because the great 3D.
Hmm, where do i start.. At beginning of the movies..
It gives you oldies feels and looks, it's all in black and white..
I start wondering is it will be like watching Tim Burton, Frankenweenie?
And i feel the screen was so small, i start to regret it watch in my favorite row, the back of the back.
But at the movies go on.. Something magical happen.. Ahahahahahaha...
That's just me being hyperbolic..
The black and white faded into sepia, and voila, the wonderful colorful scene take place..
When i say colorful, i mean really really full of tons of different color..
And it super beautiful..
Actually it is the same scene inspiration from the Judy Garland, The Wizard of Oz..
When Dorothy first time entering Land of Oz, her sepia world turn into technicolor..

And the small screen that i was complaining about, slowly but sure..
As the color changing, it spread open.. Became more and more, wider, to the full length of the screen cinema..
Turn out, i'm picking the right spot to watch the movie.. Ahahahahahahahaha..
The best part of this movie is really the opening scene when Oz entering the this mystical land.
And then any of you remember that THX Amazing Life sound-test, right before the movie, the one with 3D plants making music?
Yup, that is my favorite, and at Oz, you can see something much similar to it.
But absolutely in a higher level of greatness.
The scenery, the plants and all the creatures.. It was amazing..
I love those kind of view.. It brings magic vibe down the spine..
The same as what i love in Life of Pi..
This movies scenery gave me an eyegasm too..
The landscape truly out of this world, the vibrant color combination, making it looks so dreamy..
And the next thing i love is the 3D character.
Finley, the cute flying monkey in bellhop uniform, he is just an adorable character.
Funny and makes the movie better with him being there.
The second is the China Girl, a little girl, very tiny girl i say, made from porcelain.
Not as amusing as Finley, but cute, and the 3D model fascinating me.
But as the story, the meaning behind the story, the message that we get after we watched it.
The acting, the conversation, the action, the ending.
Hhh.. It just average..
It is a nice movie, a fun to watch, but nothing more..
I quite enjoy my time watching this movie.
So if want to be blown away by how today 3D can do magic, watch this movie..
But don't expect something more great and powerful along the way.
But i always love Disney, so in the end this a good movie, i like it.
